Dear Friends You are invited to participate in the development and presentation of the BONYEEBURRA "people of the bunya” Exhibition. BONYEEBURRA Exhibition aims to promote traditional culture and heritage through showcases by dance groups, Artists works, storytellers, Elders and leaders who identify their mob's connection to the traditional bunya ceremonies of southeast Queensland. Musgrave Park Cultural Centre hosts the renowned Musgrave Park Family Fun Day; with consideration to Queensland's celebrations of 150years and that Brisbane is the host city for the national NAIDOC celebrations; we propose to present BONYEEBURRA Exhibition initiative at the Musgrave Park Family Fun Day 10 July 2009. This is the first for BONYEEBURRA Exhibition and we envisage this be the beginning of the people coming back together to celebrate and share our unique ageless culture and heritage, As many but one mob; with an opportunity for everyone to ‘tell their mob’s story’ and be part of developing and presenting a vibrant Exhibition. We are asking all groups who identify with the concept of the Bonyeeburra Exhibition, to talk amongst your own dance groups, artists, Elders and leaders in your community for their expression of interest and support for your mob to participate in this Exhibition: to showcase your traditional dance group; artworks; stories; maps; photographs; artefacts and books. As like the NAIDOC day; all performers volunteer their time to perform and celebrate with their community; and so we ask you to join BONYEEBURRA Exhibition with the same strong spirit to celebrate our culture and heritage. If you wish to contribute your mob stories, artworks, photographs, maps, artefacts display, performance; We would need to receive your articles by Friday 26 June 2009.
