FOR many thousands of years, Australia's original inhabitants lived off the land and its natural bounty.
Then came the first ships of convicts and settlers with their own food culture.
Ever since, a good part of urban Australia's diet has consisted of introduced species such as spinach and carrots, apples and strawberries.
Now there's a movement enthusiastically embracing bush foods and public perception is shifting – kangaroo meat is available in supermarkets and wild herbs and berries are finding their way into everything from jam to salad dressing.
